Budō Dance Theater is for anyone who loves dance. We welcome anyone who wants to become not just a good dancer, but a better human being.

The performing artist is at once sensitive, intelligent, disciplined, fearless, steadfast, and truly humble. Budō is the “way of dance” which leads to the source of these qualities, inherent in all human beings, and nurtures that source. Performing itself is not the primary goal. The goal is simply to polish ourselves, in order to realize the joy of life, and love. This is the essence of “dō”, as it is in all traditional arts: sadō (tea ceremony), kadō (flower arrangement), and budō (martial arts).

The Budō Dance Theater studio is a very special place; quite different from the everyday world and daily life. It is a space in which to train ourselves, and to change ourselves. Here, spirits are nurtured, protected, and encouraged.

Since we started classes in 2006, we have been helping each other, learning from each other, and growing.
